Dear parents,

Spelling words

Hello parents,

If your child is absent on a Monday, please remind him/her to copy down the spelling words from the board. I keep the words up all week long and review them daily before the Friday quiz. Because my newsletter is not weekly, I do not include the spelling words in it. It's your child's responsibility to write them down in their notebook or agenda and to write them correctly.

Thank you.

Goal deadline is approaching

The goal deadline for AR is fast approaching. Your child should be reading and taking AR tests every week. Make sure you remind him to take the tests in school as I provide plenty of opportunity every day in my classroom for them to take a quiz.

DIBELS Letter

I sent home a letter about DIBELS test scores. Your child should have brought it to you this Friday Oct. 5th. The goal for this first test was 77 words per minute. I highlighted the score your child got this time. The next DIBELS round will be in January and the last one in April. The goal will increase for the next testing date to 98 words per minute. If your child is performing at or below level, practice with him 3-4 times a week. Use any book and ask him/her to read out loud. Time how many words he/she can read per minute. You should have a copy of the passage so you can mark how many mistakes he/she had. If your child read 100 words in one minute, but made 12 mistakes, then the final score would be 88 words per minute. Please read the letter carefully and if you have questions about it, don't hesitate to email me.

Meet the Teacher

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to a new year! I can't wait to teach third grade again this year at NLPK, especially since this promises a year filled with great ideas, activities, and best of all, smaller classes!!! YEAH!!!!

Meet the teacher for 3rd grade will be Friday, August 17th from 3:00-6:00pm. Make sure you make it before 6pm though. There is no need to bring your materials at this time since you will be getting a new list of materials from me.

Hope to see you soon!

Additions registrations

Please make sure you have registered with Additions before signing up to be a chaperone with any teacher. If you will be a chaperone during the Spring semester, you will need to be approved by Additions and then fill out a Chaperone form starting in January. Thank you.
