In 1981, Mrs. Rivard entered the University of Central Florida. She was involved as a member of the Orientation Team, was an Academic Peer Advisor, and participated in her sorority, Delta Delta Delta. In 1985, she graduated with a degree in Liberal Studies. Mrs. Rivard immediately completed the courses necessary for certification to teach. Later she returned to UCF to work on her master's degree in Elementary Education, which she earned in 1991.
