Grade Level Expectations
The vision for literacy instruction for Orange County Public School is to ensure that all students learn to read and write fluently and have positive attitudes about themselves as readers and writers. In order to accomplish this, the necessary resources, appropriate materials and support will be available to teachers as they observe, plan, instruct and assess for literacy. Implementation of the appropriate strategies will ensure that all students can read on or above grade level.
The OCPS Comprehensive K-5 Literacy Plan has been developed based on current research in the field of literacy and serves to guide instruction for student achievement of the Sunshine State Standards. The following plan is designed to maximize student learning so that each OCPS student will:
· Receive daily comprehensive literacy instruction that reflects best practices based on current research.
· Be assessed regularly in order to receive appropriate instruction.
· Read fluently on or above grade level.
· Receive appropriate intervention and tutoring services.
