Orange County Public Schools has adopted the following programs to teach the Sunshine State Standards:
Reading/Language Arts - Houghton-Mifflin
Math - Wright Group: Everyday Math
Science - Scott Foresman: Science 2006
Social Studies - Scott Foresman: Social Studies 2005
Each teacher strives to differentiate student instruction based on standardized data and observation. In addition to our core curriculum, our students participate in a variety of activities to support and enrich their academic endeavors. These programs include, but are not limited to:
Classworks - a program that differentiates reading and math instruction per student
WordSmart - a program that builds vocabulary beginning in kindergarten
through college to improve oral and reading skills as well as SAT results
Literacy Lab - a program that remediates reading basics for students requiring
additional intensive instruction
Literary Magazine - a program that provides an opportunity for our student writers
Future Problem Solvers - a program that provides an opportunity for our students
to learn the process of problem solving on a more global scale
Accelerated Reader Program - a program that encourages students to read while
assessing reading levels and comprehension ability
