Lesson Description: Teacher
reads aloud: “How to
Catch a Leprechaun.” Students then
work together in order to create a circle map expressing ideas of the materials
that could be used to build a leprechaun trap.
Students will then work in small groups to look at examples of traps
using Internet Explorer. Students will
work independently to sketch a model of their traps. Students are then asked to build a model of their traps using at
least seven different materials.
Finally, students will write a well organized, detailed paragraph
including at least 5 sentences, describing how their trap would be effective in
catching a leprechaun. Students will be assessed using this rubric.
Research Component: I referred to Kathy Schrock’s site for
ideas when creating my rubric for the lesson. I also referred to Strategies for
Effective Elementary Education Technology Integration for ideas on how to
integrate Internet Explorer into my lessons.
