Orlando Sentinel recently announced Richard and Florence Atwaters' Mr. Popper's Penguins as the 2007 book selection for its sixth annual market-wide reading program One Book One Community (tm).
This six week program will run in January and February as part of the company's Reading By Nine literacy iniatiative.
One Book One Commnity(tm) encourges Central Florida children and the adults in their lives to read the same book. Keep reading the Orlando Sentinel for other events such as read-alouds and a writing contest.
The LWE Media Center will encourage the students, teachers and parents to read this Newberry book. Students will have an opportunity to participate in other activities centered around the book as well.
