Meet the Library Media Specialist

Reading is the key component to success throughout life, and I am fortunate to be able to encourage and help students "get hooked" on reading in order to become life-long readers. I find a great deal of satisfaction in developing programs such as the fifth grade Chat-n-Chew, the Authors Birthday Club, the Great Pickle Race and the Poetry Slam. The programs work because the children enjoy them. Some of the participants in the programs are natural readers, but many reluctant readers are drawn into reading as a result of the programs. There is no greater thrill than watching a child become engrossed in a good book. When a child tells me "I really enjoyed that book", or when a small, spontaneous discussion erupts about a familiar, well-liked story, I've done my job.
