The road to teaching has been a long one for me, but one I am glad to have taken. Even though I was born in Ketchikan, Alaska, I have called Florida home for most of my life.  My background is not in education (although I am now certified) but rather television news reporting and anchoring.  After 15 years in the business, I decided I needed a change and began my quest for a teaching certificate.  It was the best decision I ever made.
I love to write and read and hope to instill that same love into my students.  It is my opinion you can't do one without the other!  I am also an avid Seminole fan, having graduated from
Florida State University .  The beach is my ultimate sanctuary, especially Englewood Beach on the Gulf coast.
Outside of school I am a very busy person.  I have three children:  a junior at UCF, a freshman at FSU, and an 9th grader at Edgewater.    My husband works at Channel 9.
In class, I believe that all students have a voice that deserves to be heard.  Learning is not something they should have to do.  I believe it's something they should want to do.
