Five Finger Test
If you think a book may be too easy or too hard, try the "five finger test!"
Beginning readers can use the five finger test to check the their understanding of a book. To check the reading level of your book, take this simple test:
1)Open the book to the middle and choose either page to read.
2)Read the page. (aloud if possible)
3)Put out 1 finger for every word you do not know or cannot pronounce.
Here's the finger guide:
0-1 Fingers: Too Easy
2-3 Fingers: Just Right
4-5 Fingers: Too Hard
