Dear Parents,
Welcome to our First Grade Website and Bay Meadows Elementary, Home of the Koalas! We have a fun and exciting year in store for us.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Julie Gifford. I am a Native Floridian and have lived in the Orlando area for almost 21 years. My husband's name is Scott. He is an Accounts Manager for Lloyds of London. We have been married for 14 years. We have a tri-collie named Savannah. We enjoy traveling, gardening, and boating. Our favorite places to visit are Jacksonville (my family), Siesta Key in Sarasota (Scott's family), and Cabo San Lucas. We love to ski, fish and ride in our boat. Savannah, our collie, even rides on the inner tube with me behind our boat. If you don't find us in the boat, you will find us swimming in our pool or planting flowers. We love the outdoors!
Learning is a lifetime goal of mine. I graduated from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida and then received a Bachelors of Arts degree with majors in both Elementary Education and Psychology from Stetson University. I have been teaching for 18 years and have experience in both the private and public school system. I was honoured as Teacher of the Year for Bay Meadows Elementary in 2004-2005. I consider myself fortunate to be among such a professional staff at Bay Meadows Elementary.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I look forward to connecting with your child on a personal basis and inviting them to learn, discover and rediscover their world. I believe in every child and my highest effort will be to promote the creativity of learning and encourage them to be a life-long learner. I look forward to working together as a team.
