Science Class Supply List
It is extremely important that the student has and brings to class each day the following supplies. Coming equipped to class and determined to participate, work and learn guarantees success! 1. One three ring binder type notebook. 2. A package of three-hole filler paper. 3. One calculator (can be the same one used for math). 4. Pencils only! All class work and lab reports must be done in pencil. 5. One red pen (to make/add corrections during class discussion of work). 6. One metric ruler (cms. & mms.) 7. Black or Blue ink pen (no gel; no neon) for special assignments and projects. 8. One hand-held pencil sharpener. Homework assessments All homework assigned has a value of 25 points. The student will receive 20 points automatically for completing all of it. In order to receive the 20 points, it must be complete, legible (no sloppy last minute scribble) and it must show that time and effort were put into it. The remaining 5 points will be based on having the right answer to one of the questions on the homework which will be randomly selected on the due day by the teacher. Homework will be assigned 3 -4 times per week. Upon receiving their graded work students will have a chance to correct any wrong answers using a red pen during class discussion of the graded paper. Homework counts as 20% of the final grade. Late Work Science Class and AMMS Policy NO LATE WORK of any kind is accepted under any circumstance! This is both a Science Class policy, as well as, an AMMS policy. Make-Up Work Policy (because of student absence) If absent, it is the student’s responsibility to check the assignment calendar and the Table of Contents table posted in the classroom to find out what was covered and what assignments did he/she miss. Missed work must be completed and turned in according to County stipulations (one day for each day absent plus one day to turn the work in order to receive a grade for it. If absent for a lab activity, the student will have to schedule an appointment with me to make-up the lab at 4PM on Fridays. The student will have up to two weeks (two possible Fridays) to make it up. If they do not make it up within that time frame, they will earn an F for that lab. Class Rules and Regulations Students are expected to abide by the rules handed out and discussed in class. The Science Class Rules Handout must appear at the beginning of the science notebook. They must remain in there for the entire school year. Please take a moment to go over the Science Class Rules Handout. |
