The Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program is a statewide program to encourage students to read for pleasure. Each year there are 15 books nominated for students to read. In the spring they get to vote for the book they think is the best.
Students must read or have read to them 3 of the books to be eligible to vote on the one they think should win the award. Students should keep track of the books they read. Classroom teachers will also keep track of the books their students read. Students will vote in April 2008. Every time a student reads a Sunshine State Book they can fill out a form to enter a drawing to win a free book. On the form they must tell about their favorite part of the book. There will be a drawing once a month.
