This is Miss Kelly!

Miss Kelly's been teaching in the Gifted Resource classroom here at Lake Sybelia for 8 years, but she's been teaching in Orange County for 18 years! Miss Kelly has also taught 5th grade, AAIM, and she was a teacher-trainer in Orange County too.

Miss Kelly's daughter is a Sophomore in high school and she loves to sing, dance, and act! Patch is Miss Kelly's dog, a 7 year old, very silly English Setter who loves to chase birds!

Miss Kelly loves to laugh and loves to learn! She likes to spend time writing and reading. She's a terrible singer and an even worse cook, but she still sings and cooks because she believes that you shouldn't just do the things that you're good at doing!

Favorite Color: Plaid - bright orange & pink & green & yellow
Favorite Food: Orange Sherbet & Green Apples (but not together)
Favorite Music: Anything from the 60's! Broadway Musicals! Handel!
Favorite TV Show: Almost anything on the Discovery Channel!
Favorite Animal: Platypus - it's so different looking!
Favorite Book: Andrew Henry's Meadow
Favorite Game: Chess

Radio & CD's
Music is one of the great joys of life! Miss Kelly loves music from the 60's and 70's! She also loves soundtracks from Broadway (the one on the desk is the Hairspray soundtrack) and popular movies. Her favorite composers are George Friedrich Handel and Aaron Copeland. Do you have a favorite instrument? Miss Kelly loves the Harpsichord and the French Horn.

Quotes are really neat things to have around. They make us think of things and see things in new ways. The bathroom in our classroom has quotes all over the walls!

Horns are just silly. So is Miss Kelly sometimes.
Old Beat-Up Dictionary
Words are incredibly powerful things. Miss Kelly loves words - reading them, writing them, thinking about them, and even inventing new ones every now and then!
This is the dictionary Miss Kelly's dad gave her when she went away to college. It's very special and much used. You can use it too when you get here!

Miss Kelly's daughter is a wonderful young person. She likes to sing and dance and act. Occasionally, she even likes to do homework! :)

Miss Kelly knows that one way to become a better thinker is to study good thinkers and learn about how they do things. That's something you'll hear Miss Kelly say quite a bit in our class, "Well, one of the things that good thinkers do is..."!
